New year, new me – we’ve all been there. With the world being in the midst of an energy crisis and recession why not take your business and your skills to a new level.

The Energy Academy is a trade training centre in Sittingbourne, Kent. We have first class, purpose built training facilities with courses all hosted by our own training team whom have years of experience on the job.

There is a range of courses on offer regardless of your background or what you want to achieve this year.

Thinking about starting a career in the gas industry? Become a fully qualified gas engineer within 6 months. You don’t need any prior qualifications just a good understanding of maths and English.

There are over 23 million gas customers in the UK who all have something in common, they all have gas appliances that will need maintenance, repair or replacement, which can only be done by Gas Safe registered engineers. It has been highlighted in a Gas Safe decade review that there is currently an ageing workforce in the gas industry, with half retiring in the next 10 years. It has now become apparent that this gap will not be met by apprenticeships alone.

There are a number of packages that the Energy Academy are able to offer, and this will be down to experience and knowledge as you may be able to transfer some of your existing skills known as RPL (recognition of prior learning). This could include criteria such as manual handling or asbestos awareness for example. We have put together some frequently asked questions which you can view here.

Are you already a gas engineer and looking to expand your knowledge and client base? Perhaps venturing into commercial heating is where you want to be?

Our Commercial Gas Safety Modules – ACS course covers

  • ICPN1 - Commercial pipework
  • CORT1 - Radiant tube and plaque heaters
  • CIGA1 - Indirect fired gas appliances

Maybe you are looking to be able to add some electrical expertise to your business rather than subbing it out to other trades people. The Domestic Electrical Installer course is a practical course designed for installers who carry out some electrical work, mainly as a secondary role. This could be a gas installer who wants to wire in a boiler or a kitchen fitter that wants to install a new ring main. Find out more and book here.

Your business may benefit from you having the hot water systems and safety certificate. It is recognised by the Competent Person Schemes (CPS)-approved to offer a self-certification scheme under ADG, enabling installers of hot water systems (including Unvented HWS) to self-certify the installation. A certificate in Hot Water Systems and Safety is also required by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) registration bodies, for those looking to be recognised for the installation of solar thermal hot water systems course. Take a look at this course on our website.
