OFT10-101 is required for any operative wishing to carry out work on domestic pressure jet appliances. In addition, the operative must hold the relevant tank installation and installation elements applicable to the work they wish to undertake as listed below: OFT10-600: Domestic & Non-domestic Oil Storage and Supply Installation OFT10-105E: Domestic Oil Firing System Installation and Energy Conservation Measures in Buildings. Technical Book 1 is required for all OFTEC Courses. Technical Book 2 is required for OFT10-101. Technical Book 3 is required for OFT10-101, 105E & 600A. Technical Book 4 is required for OFT10-101 & 105E (the price includes all training, assessment and certification fees).

Expiry

This course is valid for up to 5 years.

Previous certificates must be produced at the time of assessment as evidence.

Assessment Overview

The candidate will be assessed in the following areas:

  • General oil safety and principles
  • Oil storage and supply
  • Ventilation, combustion and chimneys
  • Electrical safety
  • Controls
  • Servicing and of pressure jet appliances and burners
  • General servicing of heating systems
  • Commissioning and documentation
  • Fault finding

Pre-requisites

For the initial assessment, candidates must meet the entry requirements as laid out by Oftec for category 1, 2, and 3 entrants. This could include undertaking the OFT50 certificate of training.

For re-assessment, candidates must have held the element previously – if this has expired within 12 months of the assessment date, the initial assessment must be undertaken.

This would have an equivalence to Level 3 qualifications.

Assessment Method

Assessment is carried out using a variety of methods including multiple choice, short written response and scenario questions, and observed practical assessment.
