This course is for engineers who already have domestic natural gas qualifications but are looking to do a changeover to commercial natural gas. CODNCO1 is the core qualification for commercial gas, and our course package includes the following appliances;

  • CIGA1 – Indirect fired heating appliances and equipment
  • CDGA1 – Direct fired heating appliances and equipment
  • CORT1 – Radiant Tube & Plaque Heaters
  • ICPN1 – Gas pipe work in excess of 35mm
  • TPCP1A – Testing and purging of pipe work up to 150mm diameter and 1m3 in volume

The candidate will be assessed in the following areas:

Course Objectives

On successful completion of this course, learners will be able to demonstrate competence in relation to:

  • Identifying correct installation of commercial pipework / fittings
  • Characteristics of combustion and the use of flue gas analysis equipment
  • Commercial ventilation requirements
  • Checking and/or setting commercial appliance burner pressures/gas rates
  • Identification of unsafe situations in commercial premises
  • The operation and positioning of emergency isolation controls and valves
  • Commercial flueing/chimney standards
  • Re-establishing existing gas supply and re-light commercial appliances
  • The operation and checking of commercial gas safety devices and controls

Pre-requisites

For this courses assessment, candidates must hold a valid CCN1 qualification. 

For those looking to do a re-assessment, they must produce a valid CODNCO1 certificate. If this has expired within 12 months of the assessment date, the initial assessment must be undertaken.

Assessment Method

Assessment is carried out using a variety of assessment methods including multiple choice, short written response and scenario questions, and observed practical assessment.
